Karla Kasalo

My name is Karla Kasalo and I'm a young animator from the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb, Croatia! Art and animation have been a great passion of mine ever since I was a child, which my parents, forced to watch the same animated film with me for the 500th time, can begrudgingly confirm. Creating fictional worlds, stories and characters is my most authentic form of expression, which externalizes through my visual art, illustration, animation, character design, writing, as well as performance art. I've been doing theatre as a performer for almost a decade now and this year finally got a chance to try out play directing! Directing plays and films, working with teams of talented and inspiring people have usually been some of the best experiences I've had and I'm always looking forward to experiencing more, seeking new perspectives and ideas! My stories, usually fantastical and eccentric in nature, aim to explore emotion and character, show what is familiar and known in the unfamiliar and strange. 

My theatre background usually makes me the loudest animator in the room so if you encounter a piercing echo of an ecstatic voice listing random, useless horse facts throughout the empty hallways, you know I'm probably roaming around :)
