SYAA Delegation Set to Shine at Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Market

A delegation of six talented alumni of the SYAA residency is gearing up for a remarkable showcase at the Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Market, scheduled to take place from February 5th to 8th, 2024. The prestigious event has invited the SYAA alumni to participate in the Eur♀Visions booth, a platform dedicated to promoting women in the audiovisual industry, as part of the festival's thematic retrospective focused on strong female figures.

The Eur♀Visions booth, managed by Media Desk France, will feature representatives from renowned institutions and initiatives supporting women in the audiovisual field, such as EWA - European Women's Audiovisual Network, Le Collectif 50/50, CIMA - Asociación de Mujeres Cineastas y de Medios Audiovisuales, and more.

The six SYAA alumni who will be representing at the Eur♀Visions booth are Ioana Nicoară, Liana Chiriță, Nicoleta Miron, and Agata Tabacu from Romania, Michaela Rezova from the Czech Republic, and Patricia Ortiz from Spain/the Czech Republic. Their inclusion in this esteemed gathering is a testament to their creative prowess and the impact of the SYAA residency program. All six participants will be present throughout the market days at the Eur♀Visions booth no. F4.

The Romanian Cultural Institute has played a significant role in supporting the participation of the Romanian artists, enabling them to share their work on an international stage.

Attendees are encouraged to drop by the Eur♀Visions booth (no. F4) anytime between Feb 5-8 and connect with the SYAA alumni (and other talented authors!), and are welcome to join us on Feb 5 starting at 9:30 for the presentation of the delegations, followed by a Meet & Greet starting at 12:00.

In addition to the Eur♀Visions booth lineup, Animest Association, the organizer of SYAA, will have a significant presence in Clermont-Ferrand as part of the Animation Festival Network (AFN). They will be located at booth E6, where a meet-and-greet session is scheduled for Tuesday, February 6 at 18:00. This session offers a chance for industry professionals and enthusiasts to connect with the representatives of the AFN festival members, fostering collaboration and networking opportunities.

As part of the AFN activities, a market screening titled "That's What She Said" is set to take place on February 8 at the Georges Conchon Theatre starting at 18:00. The thoughtfully curated collection showcases outstanding short animations by female and female-identifying filmmakers from the last editions of the AFN member festivals. Access to the screening is by accreditation.

Furthermore, SYAA alumna Maria Brudașcă along with producer Constantine Benea will be pitching their project "A Horse in a Swan Sea'' on Tuesday at Agora, starting at 16:00, as part of the Rise&Shine pitches. This is a unique opportunity to witness the creativity and innovation fostered by the SYAA residency taking up some much deserved space in the international film market.

The SYAA delegation's presence at the Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Market is a celebration of their achievements and a recognition of the impact of the SYAA residency program in nurturing emerging talent. As they join the Eur♀Visions booth and other esteemed initiatives, they continue to contribute to the global conversation on women's representation and creativity in the audiovisual industry.

SYAA is a project of the Animest Association, organized with the support of AFN. It is co-financed by Eurimages and the Creative Europe MEDIA Programme of the European Union, as part of the Animation Festival Network activities.

The presence of the Romanian delegation in Clermont-Ferrand was possible thanks to the generous support of the Romanian Cultural Institute.
