The film tells a story of my grandmother Kira based on an actual interview I recorded with her. She talks about her experiences growing up as a Bulgarian minority after the region was occupied by the Soviet Union and foreign Russian language suddenly was imposed on her and the whole village. My family became immigrants without moving out of their house. She wanted to become a doctor, but while trying to enter the university, she didn’t know that her identity was a threat to the Soviet government
