Patricia Ortiz SYAA 2023
Patricia Ortiz Martínez, born in Spain, is a visual artist graduated in Fine Arts (2002, Polytechnic University of Valencia, Spain). During her studies, she enjoyed several scholarships, taking the opportunity to study at the Academy of Art, Architecture and Design in Prague and The Institute of Modern Art, I.S.A., Havana, Cuba.
In 2002 she moved to Prague, where she focused her career on animation, particularly stop motion animation, technique in which she found the formula that brings together all the artistic disciplines that she is passionate about.
During her stay in the Czech Republic she obtaining a deep knowledge of the technique from pre-production to post-production. She had the pleasure of storyboarding, directing, animating, editing and lighting multiple animation projects in collaboration with numerous studios, involving prestigious directors of different nationalities. One remarkable project in which she participated during this time, is the stop motion feature ''Fimfarum'', 2011. Work for which she was nominated for the Czech Lion, award of the Czech film academy.
Between 2007 and 2011 she worked as a teacher at the Prague University of Arts, Architecture and Design "Film and TV Graphics Studio". She has also shared her knowledge in numerous workshops for other film faculties and animation training programs.
She currently works as Art Director, Production Designer, D.O.P. and runs the WoodenMoood studio, a studio dedicated to the production of puppet props and decorations for stop motion,founded in 2020.
She combines filmmaking with her artistic career as a painter and collagist and continues to explore new paths in her artistic expression, writing and directing her own short films.
